Summary

Introduction. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was firstly detected in 1980s. Due to lack of treatment options, HIV caused opportunistic infections that led patients to death. Newly emerged antiviral medical treatment has helped increasing the lifespan of patients infected with HIV virus. However, because of increasing life expectancy of these patients, cardiovascular diseases have become the main cause of death.

Summary

Background. There is a lack of research that investigate the relationship between platelet membrane FA composition and biochemical markers. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the importance of biochemical markers for changes in platelet membrane FA composition of healthy and post-myocardial infarction (post-MI) individuals.

Objectives. To review current literature concerning etiology and complications of life-threatening pathological childhood obesity. To evaluate the treatment results of two obese children who developed life-threatening complications of patho­logical obesity.

Methods. A overview of current liter­ature. A retrospective analysis of the case history.
