Background and objectives. Improving the quality of life and improving health care will inevitably lead to an increase in life expectancy and an increasing proportion of the elderly. Dizziness is one of the most common problems in primary health care for the elderly. The imbalance can be caused for many reasons because the human balance system is complex. It is important for a family doctor to remember that young people are more likely to have classic signs of imbalance, accompanied by symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, while older people more often complain of non-specific dizziness symptoms such as instability, weakness, falls, which greatly aggravate diagnosis. When treating dizziness in the elderly, it is important not only to concentrate on the etiological medication that is not always appropriate and efiective for the elderly but also to keep in mind vestibular rehabilitation and non-traditional therapies. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to the frequency and topicality of dizziness among older people, to present the causes of dizziness, methods of diagnosis and treatment, and to emphasize the importance and effectiveness of rehabilitation and non-traditional methods of treatment of imbalances.

Methods. Working methods used - searching for relevant literature in PubMed, Medscape, Cochrane Library, UpToDate medical databases, and a specialized search engine Google Scholar.

Conclusions. Elderly people with dizziness are a topical medical problem that can be caused by a number of reasons that the doctors in the primary health care chain need to be aware of in terms of diagnosis and treatment
