Summary

Many miRNAs have been proposed as promising molecular markers of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, there are limited data on the correlation between miRNA expression, and neck lymph node metastasis. Analysis of miRNAs expression data may improve perioperative decision making for patients with PTC, specifically in identifying patients harboring neck lymph node metastases (LNM).

Background. Last epidemiological studies show that incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) has increased and reached 1.9-2.9%. Electrical cardioversion (ECV) is a method of AF treatment in which an electric impulse is used to restore sinus rhythm (SR). The rate of AF recurrence after successful ECV remains pretty high and ranges from 40 to 50 % in the first month. There are evidences that elevated levels of inflammatory markers are associated with a higher risk of AF recurrence after ECV.

Among end-stage renal disease patients, the risk of cardiovascular moribidity and total mortality is significantly higher than in healthy individuals. As interventions that have been successful in the general population, failed to improve outcomes of hemodialysis patients, more attention is paid to non-traditional, only for hemodialysis patients specific risk factors. Disturbances of calcium phosphate metabolism and related vascular calcification is one of them. Vascular calcification is not any longer considered a passive process, but rather as an actively regulated one.
