Summary

Background. Systemic mastocytosis is a rare hematological disorder characterized by the abnormal proliferation of mast cells, leading to various clinical manifestations, including cardiovascular complications. Elevated serum tryptase levels serve as a key diagnostic criterion and are associated with disease severity and poor outcomes in patients with cardiovascular diseases. This thesis explores the coexistence of cardiovascular diseases with systemic mastocytosis that presents a complex medical scenario.

Material and Methods. The work was carried out after a review of the scientific literature using the international database Pubmed and the Google Scholar information retrieval system. The latest European Society of Cardiology guidelines were also used.

Results. Research indicates that elevated tryptase levels correlate with increased risks of myocardial infarction and hypertension, as they reflect mast cell activation and systemic inflammation. The use of beta- adrenoblockers in patients with both SM and cardiovascular diseases poses significant risks, as these medications can exacerbate mast cell-related symptoms and hinder the effectiveness of anaphylaxis treatment.

Conclusions. The interplay between systemic mastocytosis and cardiovascular diseases necessitates a careful and individualized treatment approach. Monitoring tryptase levels and understanding the implications of medication interactions are essential for optimizing patient outcomes. Continued research is vital for developing targeted therapies and improving the management of these complex comorbidities.
